Equipped with a hinged face plate with wing nut fasteners for easy wheel changes, this tool can accept up to 6 inch resinoid bond wheels. Wire brushes can also be attached for cleaning rust from work surfaces, as well as buffing wheels for polishing. An impact absorbing tool rest is provided so that the tool can be set down safely as the wheel coasts to a stop. The spindle is 5/8 inch for use with industry standard accessories for the rated diameter capacity. This tool can be converted to a Tuck Point Grinder by purchasing the appropriate guard and Type 1 wheel. $39.90 - If you are in the market for a case for your 4" or 4.5" angle grinder, do not listen to the 2 star noodnicks--do yourself a favor and buy this case before its too late. Metal tool cases are a dying breed and may be pretty much unavailable in the near future--try doing a search for "Milwaukee Case" and see how many lame blow-molded plastic cases come up. Hell, some schiester was trying to bilk 0.00 for a steel Milwaukee drill case here on Amazon that was only a mere .00 a few years ago.

I just bought the variable speed Magnum grinder a month ago and got this case to go with it. The case is great, it shuts fine-albeit stiffly--WITH the handle on, as well as the guard and grinding wheel. Yes there is a foam sheet on the lid that presses down on the handle ridge to hold it in place. As other reviewers have noted, this is a designed feature which holds the grinder snugly in the case. The foam gets indented after a while and the lid closes normally. If you don't like this set up, peel the foam off, or cut a slit in it--problem solved. Or simply store the grinder with the handle off--its not THAT big of a deal to do so. One of the great features of the Mag grinders is that there are 3 different handle positions. So you may be moving the handle around anyway during the course of a work session, depending on the task at hand.

And again, as other reviewers have cited, the case has plenty of room for extra wheels, brush heads, sanding pads, etc. as well as the quik-loc cord. Plastic cases just don't measure up in this regard, not to mention the sturdiness issue. I have some Makita tools with metal cases which I purchased in the late 80s, and those things--both tools and cases-- are in as good a shape as the day I bought them.

For 39 bucks for brand new item--not some rusty old eBay relic--this is a no-brainer purchase!

The first time I used this grinder I ran it for about 6 straight hours stripping paint on round log siding (with a Norton Rapid Strip disc - awesome combo), then another 4 hrs the next day. Saved me big $$ vs. sandblasting. Also does a better job on my mower blades than I can get on my bench grinder. Anyway, it's handled everything I've thrown at it without hesitation. It has enough power to handle most jobs (not the case with the inexpensive Ryobi I had for a day) and the trigger grip configuration is more comfortable to use than the paddle switches. I'd recommend this tool to anyone looking for a good angle grinder.

This tool is excellent! I've used it for many jobs

where it would have been difficult or impossible to use any other tool. It's most useful

aspect is that you can get into difficult to reach, small spaces, and with an appropriate

thin cut-off wheel which you can buy, saw through anything. I used it to cut 4" cast iron

sewer lines in a confined space underground with no problems. And does the job quickly too!

Also, Milwaukee makes and sells several other models similar to this grinder, and they are all

worth getting, particularly if you want a more professional tool. I'm a home hobbyist,

and the 6148 works great for me. I threw away my hacksaw!

I chose this model because I simply planned to use it to remove rust, bondo and welds from mild steel, not needing the large unwieldy models for masonry work. I also liked the safety paddle switch that prevents accidental turn on.

This product has exceeded my expectations, and performed well in every task I've used it for. It is very powerful (watch out, this tool can injure your wrist) runs cool even with heavy use and functions well as a cutoff tool. With a sanding back, it will handle any orbital sanding duties required.

The wrench supplied for wheel removal is a joy to use and far stronger than needed for the task of changing discs.

The only reason I gave it four stars is the lack of spiral bevel gears like the 6140 model; it deserves five in every other aspect.

I bought the Milwaukee 6153-40 specifically for metal work. It stopped working after the second use 40 days after I purchased it. The motor was powerful just as I expected. The motor ran, but the grinding wheel became useless since the worm gear became loose inside the tool. I have since had to have it repaired under the warranty. I cannot give it a high rating due to the poor assembly of the tool in Mexico! Beware. Try it out before the 30 day period for return expires at Amazon. A big disappointment when I really needed it. Like other reviews I read before I bought this case, the grinder does fit a little snug, but the rubber cushion compresses and that is what holds the tool tightly so that it has no chance of rattling around or getting damaged. Plus, there is extra room for other grinding disks and the wrench.

The first review of this item is correct. It should be about 1/2" taller. The grinder will fit in the case with the handle attached if you place pressure on the lid. The foam rubber will fit the top part of the handle after a period of time. It forms an identation at the handle. I might add that this makes the grinder more secure in place. There is plenty of room for accessories. The case is made of steel and not plastic. The grinder will not move while being transported. Bottom line, this is the best grinder case I've seen.

I purchased this case for my Milwaukee grinder. I was thrilled when I found it because most of Milwaukee's cases today are the plastic style which don't give you much room for extras. When I got it, it looked perfect. Its dimensions are 14-1/2 x 12 x 4-3/4". The grinder fits in angled, and slightly offset in order to accommodate the side handle, and there's plenty of extra storage space for anything you have. I put my grinder and accessories in the case, everything looked perfect... that is, until I tried to close the cover. The edge of the side handle sticks up about 1/2" too high and there's no way to close it with the handle attached. I contacted Milwaukee who told me that I would have to remove the handle to store the tool, which is not very practical, especially since the case looks to be offset in order to accommodate the side handle. If the case was 1/2" taller, it would fit perfectly. Doesn't make any sense to me.

I was very disappointed in this case. The 12 amp 4-1/2" grinder won't even fit with the cord attached. Nothing to keep the tool from flopping around inside. I saw the case that was included with the 4-1/2" 8 amp grinder, and it showed a bracket for the tool and a quick reference guide for disc selection.

Come-on Milwaukee; you built the tool well, surely you can put together a case that's matched to the tool. Especially for $34.50.

I purchased a steel carrying case for my Milwaukee drill a year ago and was quite pleased with it. It had a foam-cushioned bracket inside that cradled the drill, and also included a tray that was able to hold bits and accessories. I decided to purchase a case for my Milwaukee grinder as well, so I purchased this item. Unfortunately, the features of Milwaukee's drill case were not carried over into this one. This case is empty... no bracket to keep the grinder from sliding around inside and no accessory tray. For half the price, I could've bought a small Craftsman tool box that's twice the size AND includes the tray. This is much too expensive to simply be an 'empty box'.

I purchased a factory reconditioned 6154-20 in reasonably good shape several months ago and it has performed flawlessly on many tasks. I mainly use it for computer case modifications or to cut pipe for home and garden projects. I have yet to need to run this up to the rated maximum speed.

I'm glad I practiced using this tool on an old computer case as I did not realize it was powerful enough to melt the steel case. In mere seconds, the friction from the cutting edge had heated the cutting surface and spattered molten metal on my wooden deck... oops. It tore through that modification in about 5 minutes and accomplished in that time what would have taken hours with a Dremmel tool - having the right tool makes life much, much easier. In the end I had a very clean product that only required a bit of polishing.

I would highly recommend this tool as it is an absolute steal at under $150 and is amazingly capable with many different abrasive disks available. Other positive features include; the variable speed 12 AMP motor, detachable handle, movable guard, paddle switch with safety, and the quick lock plug. The industrial design is intuitive and quite frankly, amazingly well thought out. This is one very well engineered product and I am happy to add it to my other Milwaukee tools - they are the only brand that has consistently exceeded my expectations.

My only regret is that I wish I had purchased a new one from Amazon instead, as the reconditioned model I acquired from the Milwaukee store was about the same price!

I've been using this grinder for several years now and consider it one of my "go to tools". I've cut metal, ground out mortar joints, cut tile and marble with it. The variable speed is great for precision cutting. I had a job remodeling apartment units where every vanity top had to be cut down a couple of inches. Being able to slow the wheel down helped me control the tool better to get a clean, straight cut. The 12 amp motor gives it enough power to cut 4" cast iron and everything else I've put in front of it.

I've owned several Milwaukee electric tools over the years including a sawzall, circular saw, 1/2" drill, and 1/2" hammer drill. All of which are built to last. This 4-1/2" grinder is no exception. I love the variable speed feature on this grinder. It comes in very handy especially if you want to maintain precise control of the grinder for various operations. With as many grinding, sanding, and cut-off wheel attachments there are on the market, this little machine has endless uses. I also like that it has a detachable cord.

Have used this grinder for specific purpose of using it as a wood chipping / log carver. A specific 4 1/2" chipping blade was used in my efforts. The variable speeds this model affords makes short and pleasurable work on wood carvings / and shaping. The grinder was easy to manipulate, and did not suffer from over heating during the shaping processes. I can safely assume that when using a metal grinding wheel the tool would perform equally as well. A good reliable grinder at a fair price. The variable speeds makes this a well rounded performer. The easily adjustable wheel guard was especially helpful. Heavy duty performance.
